The Vintage Story

In 1886, German immigrants planted the oldest continuously farmed vineyard in Lodi. The old vines are still bearing fruit. A few years later, German immigrants began to gather as the church of God and purchased a parcel of land in Lodi in 1902. Today, this property is known as Hale Park. After World War II, the younger generation wanted to reach English-speaking people. So, Lodi Community Church was founded on March 25, 1948.

Lodi is known as the Zinfandel Capital of the World. Did you know that Lodi has the largest planting of old vines? Did you know that Lodi is dedicated to preserve these historic, vintage, vines for the next generation? Likewise, Vintage Church is passionate about preserving the vintage gospel for the next generation. We believe that the ancient, vintage and true Vine, Jesus Christ (John 15:1-8), still changes lives and bears fruit in people’s everyday lives. We want to see a gospel renewal in Lodi that produces fruitful and flourishing lives that make Jesus irresistible.

Vintage Church is a replant of Lodi Community Church. On March 15, 2020, the church unanimously voted to install Pastor Timothy Stewart to lead and shepherd them in an effort to revitalize the church and relaunch towards a new season of fruitful ministry. Covid-19 presented new challenges to the replant effort. Nevertheless, on July 19, the congregation voted to change the name to Vintage Church and begin the process of replanting the church.

Vintage Church seeks to honor the legacy of the past, and yet, move boldly into the future. We are a vintage church, founded in 1948, believing a vintage gospel and wholeheartedly, following Jesus—the historic, true and better Vine, who promised fruitfulness and flourishing in our everyday lives if we learn the art of abiding in Him. In short, Vintage Church believes we must abide to abound.

We invite you to join us in the great renewal project because in Lodi, the old Vine is still bearing fruit.
